21. Chewing and Swallowing Problems
Dysphagia, or difficulty in swallowing, can happen in people suffering from Multiple sclerosis. While more commonly reported in advanced stages, it can manifest earlier in some patients. Choking while eating certain foods, especially crumbly kinds, as well coughing after drinking liquids, are some of the inconveniences that patients with MS complain about, resulting from their inability to properly control the muscles needed to swallow properly.
