Certain Autoimmune Diseases
People with certain autoimmune diseases (illnesses where the body’s own defenses attack its own tissues) have been found to have an increased chance of developing Multiple Sclerosis because of the similarity in the way their immune systems work. Diseases such as Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE), Diabetes Mellitus type 1, Psoriasis, and Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) are known to slightly raise the chances of developing MS.
