7. Tingling and Numbness
Tingling and numbness of the face, arms, legs, and fingers are common warning signs of MS. Multiple Sclerosis attacks the myelin sheath, the covering of the nerves in the brain and spinal cord, causing problems in the transmission of motor and sensory signals around the body. When sensory signals are affected, conflicting messages are transmitted from the different parts of the body to the brain, making the patient feel tingling or crawling sensations all over. Sometimes, these signals are totally blocked, resulting in numbness.
