33. Nyanga the lion likes his privacy

A zookeeper named Joe Ramonetha, who just came out of retirement from his 40 years working at a Johannesburg zoo was killed by a female lion named Nyanga. Joe had was helping to fill the staff shortage at the zoo. One day, he was preparing the lion’s food when Nyanga went in to where Joe was through an opening which was accidentally left open.

The lion bit Joe on the neck which caused his death. Nyanga was sedated and returned to Nyanga was returned to her enclosure. People who knew Joe were deeply saddened. According to them, he was there for a very long time and had bonded well with the animals.
