What do you do if you owned 55 animals? You make sure that they are kept inside a secure enclosure at all times so they wouldn’t harm anyone. But what if you decided to one day take your own life? What would become of the animals? Terry Thompson had that figured out. Thompson, a Vietnam war veteran-owned a menagerie in Zanesville, Ohio. He set 55 animals free, after which he shot himself to death.

The animals ran wild and free all over the town. People got scared and frantically called for resuce. Because those animals including lions, tigers, black bears, and other vicious animals posed a serious threat to Zanesville residents, authorities had to put 49 of them down.
