The Dyatlov Pass incident of 1959 was shrouded in mystery. Even to this day, the disaster which took the lives of nine hikers from the Ural Polytechnical Institute remains unsolved. The investigation determined that the victims fled from their camp due to an “unknown compelling force.” Some of them died of hypothermia because they were inadequately protected from the sub-zero temperatures. One was fond with physical trauma and another with brain damage. A female victim was found with her tongue and eyes missing.
