40+ Pictures Taken Before Tragedy Hit

The Day The Music Died

.

On the night of February 3, 1959, a light aircraft went out of control after encountering poor winter conditions as it flew over the state of Iowa where it crashed into a cornfield in Clear Lake.
On board the Beechcraft Bonanza were three of America’s popular rock and roll musicians, Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and J.P. “The Big Bopper” Richardson all of whom died in that fatal event later known as “The Day the Music Died”, after Don McLean mentioned it in his 1971 hit song, “American Pie.” This photo of Holly, Valens and Richardson was the last picture of the three taken before their tragic demise.

Cherish Perrywinkle and her “Good Samaritan” murderer

.

On the evening of June 21, 2013, while shopping at a dollar store in Jacksonville, Florida, Rayne Perrywinkle and her daughters were approached by a man who offered to buy them clothes at the nearby Walmart store. Hesitant at first, Rayne decided to accept the kind gesture and went with the man who unbeknownst to her, turned out to be Donald Smith, a registered sex offender released from prison a mere 20 days earlier.

The family were shopping for about an hour and at around 10:30 pm, Smith offered to treat them to dinner at a fast food chain nearby. He walked out of the store together with Rayne’s eldest 8 year-old daughter, Cherish who was wearing an orange dress at the time. The surveillance camera image of the pair walking out of Walmart was the last photo of the little girl alive as she was later found tortured and murdered, in the marsh of nearby Broward Creek.
