There’s a great reason why actors should use stunt doubles for scenes requiring dangerous stunts. Stuntmen are professionals who are trained to survive life-threatening situations. But that’s something some actors seem to take for granted when wanting to do dangerous scene themselves, like in 1980, when Indian actor Krishnan “Jayan” Nair met a terrible accident when the helicopter from which he was dangling crashed as they were filming a climactic scene. Later, Jayan died from his injuries.

The tragic flight of Trans Asia Airways Flight 235

In 2015, the Trans Asia Airways flight 235 was an ATR 72-600 aircraft en route to Kinmen, China from Taipei Songshan Airport, Taiwan. It had 53 passengers and five crew on board. But shortly after takeoff, one of its turboprop engines suffered a flameout. The plane descended rapidly into the busy roads of Taiwan, clipping a taxi before crashing into the Keelung River. Fifteen passengers were killed.
