Woman Sunbathing and Had No Idea Of The Disaster That Was About to Come

In December 2004, a deadly earthquake struck the province of Bandah Aceh, Indonesia that also sent a destructive tidal wave, killing almost a quarter of a million people in an instant. Vacationing tourists in Phuket, Thailand had no inkling that a seismic event happening hundreds of miles away would turn their holiday into one of the most terrifying and horrific tragedies the modern world would ever witness.

31-year old Deborah Garlick was one of those tourists vacationing on the beautiful Thai beach destination who lost their lives to the gigantic wave. She is seen here in a photo that her parents later recovered from her belongings, enjoying the glorious sun before the Tsunami struck.
