Richard Milhous Nixon was the 37th President, and the only US president to resign from office. He served as Vice President for 8 years, and was the second youngest in history at the age of 40. He ran for president in 1960 but lost to Kennedy…subsequently, he ran again in 1968 and won the election. In 1973, President Nixon ended the American involvement in the Vietnam War…brought American POW’s home, and ended the military draft. 1973 also saw the escalation of the Watergate scandal…causing him to resign on August 9, 1974, before almost certain impeachment.
