George Herbert Walker Bush served as the 41st President from 1989 to 1993. He was vice-president from 1981-1989. He also held posts as a congressman, ambassador, and CIA Director. Bush postponed his university studies after the attack on Pearl Harbor. He enlisted in the Navy upon his 18th birthday and became one of its youngest aviators. After the war he attended Yale University and graduated in 1948. He lost to Bill Clinton in 1992 following an economic recession. His son George W. Bush won the 2000 presidential election, making them the second father and son pair to serve as president, after John Adams and John Quincy Adams.
