George Walker Bush, son of former President George H.W. Bush, was the 43rd US President. He graduated from Yale University in 1968, and Harvard Business School in 1975. He was elected President in the year 2000 when he defeated incumbent Vice President Al Gore in a narrow and contested win that involved a stopped recount in the state of Florida. Remembered for his “War on Terror” that initially included the war in Afghanistan in 2001 and the famous Iraq War in 2003. This was in response to the September 11 terrorist attacks. Bush was one of the most popular, and unpopular presidents in US history. He received the highest recorded approval ratings after the 9/11 attacks, but also one of the lowest ratings during the 2008 financial crisis. His term ended in 2009.
