Famous People Aboard

In the early 1900s the transatlantic passenger trade was highly profitable and competitive, with ship lines vying to transport wealthy travelers and imigrants.  On its maiden voyage, en route to New York City from Southampton, England, there were a lot of rich and famous people who almost were on the Titanic. The Hershey’s chocolate founder, Milton S. Hershey, had a ticket but did not board the ship. J.P. Morgan was set to have his own private suite and promenade on the ship but canceled at the last minute to remain at a resort in France. If they ever boarded, it would have changed the course in business and enterprise in the Unites States of America.
