It was reported that the Titanic ship was equipped to hold 64 lifeboats. However, there were only twenty lifeboats onboard. Moreover, many lifeboats were sent out before it was actually full. Annie McGowan was 15 at the time when she was traveling with her aunt from Ireland to New York. She gave her first interview of the tragic accident at age 86. She shared: “Women wouldn’t leave their husbands. They were screaming, and I could hear gunshots in the background. Apparently, some of the men had tried to dress like woman in order to be rescued, and they were shot.” She recounts how the men were begging to get in her own lifeboat.
