The vessel cost US$ 7.5 million to build.  It is also interesting to note that James Cameron’s 1997 movie about the disaster had a production budget of US$ 200 million.   It was reported that 22 tons of soap and tallow or rendered beef or mutton fat wear smeared on the shipway to assist its unhindered passage into the River Logan.  Moreover, it took 3,000 Harland & Wolf shipbuilders to construct the ship that was 882 feet long, almost the size of three football fields, and weighed 52,310 tons.  As to safety elements, the Titanic has 16 compartments that included doors which could be closed from the bridge, so that the water could be contained in the event the hull is breached.  Unfortunately, the accident breach most of the compartments that caused its demise.
