Not only people were passengers on board the Titanic. Out of the nine dogs reportedly onboard the ship, only two dogs were rescued – a Pomeranian and a Pekinese. These were mostly pets of First-class passengers that were probably living the best “dog years” of their canine lives. Dogs are loved and their memories linger on in the fascinating story that is the Titanic. According to some accounts, some first-class Lady passengers refused to board the lifeboats without their beloved pets. They eventually ended up sinking in with the Titanic with their pets in tow. After all, pets are part of the family. Arguably, some pet lovers will go to extremes in accepting their impending demise.
