Titanic survivor Margaret Brown alongside Captain Arthur Rostron, of the RMS Carpathia, who was awarded a silver cup for rescuing survivors of the shipwrecked Titanic. The former, popularly known as “The Unsinkable Molly Brown,” was an American socialite, philanthropist, and perhaps the most famous Titanic survivor. On the other hand, Captain Arthur Rostron, a British sailor and officer, is remembered as the captain of ocean liner RMS Carpathia, that rescued hundreds of survivors from the RMA Titanic when it sank in 1912. He won wide praise for his efforts to reach the Titanic before it sank even if his own ship was a risk. Because of his efficient preparations for and conduct of the rescue of the survivors, Captain Rostron was awarded a Congressional Gold Medal by the U.S. Congress.
