It was reported that there were over 2,200 people on board the Titanic.  However, the numbers vary on exactly how many people were on the ship.  Nonetheless, only 32% survived the sinking.  Conversely, the exact number of fatalities is still unknown.  There are rough estimates based on the vessel’s manifests.  But apparently people traveled under fake names and from so many different places making the list entirely inaccurate.  In the end, more than 1,500 people perished. Aside from the crew, which had about 700 fatalities, third class suffered the greatest loss: of approximately 710, only some 174 survived.
